Last sunday we went on an excursion trip in which we also visited the famous ISCKON temple in south delhi. This was my second visit to such temple; first one being to the ISCKON Vrindavan.

An aura of magic and frangrance flowed into our bloodstream the moment we entrered the main temple space. The chanting of the bhajans; the surroundings and the light breeze of the evening filled our minds with new spirit.

I remembered my school-days when we were taught about not doing the “murti-puja” (not worshipping deity’s idol) as it was an arya samaj* school.

*Arya Samaj (Sanskrit ārya samāja आर्य समाज “Noble Society”) is a Hindu reform movement founded in India by Swami Dayananda in 1875. He was a sannyasi (renouncer) who believed in the infallible authority of the Vedas. Dayananda advocated the doctrine of karma and reincarnation, and emphasized the ideals of brahmacharya (chastity) and sanyasa (renunciation). There are approximately 3-4 million followers of Arya Samaj worldwide.

But then suddenly the doors to the deity’s section opened and we cherished a beautiful moment that cannot be expressed in words.
